Layman Fire & Safety has been owned and operated by Joel Layman since May 2004. Joel took over the operation from his father, Ellard Layman, who started the business in 1973, under the name “Ellard Layman Fire Extinguisher Sales & Service.
Originally, the business was built on servicing fire extinguishers. Throughout the years, other elements were added to serve the growing clientele: smoke detectors, fire safety equipment and safety products. In 2012, the business added the servicing of fire alarms and sprinkler systems.
Joel has grown the business by expanding with additional certification programs including new product update training, kitchen systems certification and a variety of courses pertaining to safety equipment and transportation of dangerous goods. The addition of the safety products line is a natural fit to the current services offered by Layman Fire & Safety.
The business has always prided itself on excellent services, professional advice and fair dealing a tradition that has been passed down from father to son. It continues to be located at 235 Biesenthal Road in Petawawa.
